Patients who face termination later in pregnancy are often in a difficult situation–perhaps they have discovered a serious fetal anomaly or were unaware they were pregnant. Until now for patients faced with needing an abortion later in pregnancy there have been few options. Most abortion facilities and hospitals do not offer elective, later terminations. If patients could find a facility that agreed to help the options were few and unpleasant–labor induction in a hospital labor and delivery suite, procedure by hysterotomy (c-section) or multiple day visits–sometimes up to four days–in an outpatient abortion facility. Labor induction is particularly difficult because it takes many days, is painful and is typically carried out in a maternity suite, often with staff hostile to abortion. This can be very traumatic for patients. Even care in abortion facilities is difficult for many patients, if it requires three to four days to achieve the termination. To find out if Parkmed NYC’s Laborless D&E procedure is the right fit for you, schedule an appointment with our compassionate staff to review all of your options.

***At Parkmed NYC, you have all options available including a second trimester laborless abortion procedure.
At Parkmed NYC we offer Laborless Abortion for patients in their second trimester, providing the greatest comfort and reduced risk of complications. There are a few different methods that clinics commonly use for second trimester abortions, including:
Dilation and Evacuation (D&E): This is the most common method of abortion during the second trimester, typically performed after 15 weeks of gestation. The procedure involves dilating the cervix and using a combination of suction and surgical instruments to remove the pregnancy.
Dilation and Curettage (D&C): This method is less common during the second trimester and is more often used in the first trimester. Like a D&E, it involves dilating the cervix, but the doctor uses a curette to remove the pregnancy. This procedure is typically performed up to 16 weeks of gestation.
Induction Abortion: Less common than D&E, this method involves using medications to induce labor and deliver the fetus. It can be used in the second trimester but is more commonly used in late-term abortions due to its longer procedure time and higher risk of complications.
Labor Induction with Intrauterine Instillation: This method, which is not commonly used anymore, involves the injection of a saline solution or a prostaglandin gel into the uterus to induce labor. This procedure has largely been replaced by other methods due to higher risks of complications.
